SHOEGRAM….Pairing One

Men and Shoes!!

If you think that only the fairer gender has the dibs on having the larger closets of shoes, think again. Men have become “shoe obsessed” now more so than ever. Designers from all across are realising that for any successful Fashion Look the shoe quotient has to be totally on the game. And the classic oxfords, brogues, laceups, monks, slip-ons are not the only styles vying for attention on those shelves. Sandals, gladiators, floaters, boots, trainers are now as important as their more formal counterparts and believe me they are going through some serious style changes. Colors, patterns, decoration, lace styles, material patchwork are all coming in to create some very individual statements.

In the PAIRING series of the SHOEGRAM,  which is ofcourse  the most popular of all hashtags int he world of social media when it comes to shoe post; we explore some of my closet favourites as Flatlays so the details are clear. Support Fashion images are also shared from other blog stories with links which am sure you would have seen before. The first edition of the series is more based on funkier designs and some Indian wedding formal slippers to set the mood. There will be many more Pairing Chapters which focus on classic styles as well.

Metallic Splurge

It is very clear that Metallic Tones in Shoe Designs are here to stay. Coppers, gold, silvers Bronze, mixed alloy tones there are all out there for you to choose from. Leathers, fabrics, plastics you name it …Designers are using the metallic tone for Men more so than ever. So if you were thinking that a Patent Black is the only shine you can think off…Shoe Again!

Nature Thematics and florals are now very popular in Men’s Shoes, the trick is pair them up with more solid outfits and have some accents that bring notice to the shoes but also doesn’t over dress and make it loud. As in the example shown here is this great pair which I got during my shopping in Bangkok from the very fun brand Simple Vehicle, a must visit if your in BKK. The tones of the shoes are also taken in the belt offset in a totally Denim Casual work outfit. Shot here with a handmade Pride Choker purchased off a street market !!

Jewelled Peacocks

Wedding Seasons are around the corner and if your looking for wearing something simple but making the most of the Shoe Statement then a pair of Jewelled Mojris like these are the ones to step out in. The detailing , pearl and rhinestone studs as well as appliqued Peacocks are truly  design made to fit a King. The silver metallic background is a nice muted shot for the very intricate details done by the House of Mayyur Girotra Couture. Shot here with traditional accessories which have been detailed in the Jewelled Homme Story.

Color Blocking

Although as a concept this is common in the Fashion Design but there are not many brands which have explored the design of color blocks in Men’s Shoes. Taking cues with this very funky pair and teaming it with Indian textiles in this rather Sartorial Suit designed by me we have definitely played up the surprise quotient. Also a great pair to wear with casual Denims and white shirts the pair is geared to make the heads turn and be a conversation starter.

Pearl Blues

And finally another pair for the Indian Wedding magic. These classic styled Maharaja slippers with detailed bead and thread work with the upturned front detailed is totally out from the royal look book. An usual base color not often seen in the these style of slippers these are specially brought in from the old markets of Lucknow, India.

Shot here with a 5 string pearl necklace and traditional royal rice pearl earrings from the famous SWATI PEARLS, Hyderabad.

Well guess we are off to a super exciting start with these closet exclusives. Watch out for the next Pairing story in the Shoegram Series!
